Emily and Tracy
Emily is a recent law graduate of the University of Birmingham now the Policy and Patron Advisor at Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce. At the time of joining UpRising Emily was a little unsure of what direction to take with an interest in human rights and wanted to focus on the practice of commercial law to make positive change.
It has been a fantastic experience. My mentee was a real inspiration; she was a delight to work with and has during the course of our Mentoring journey secured a new role. We continue to stay in touch now, even though our initial mentoring journey through Uprising has concluded.
I would absolutely recommend mentoring; it is another resource and source of support for young people to help them on their way. Having someone you can speak to that understands your journey or the sector you want to work in can be incredibly valuable.
Tracy is a qualified lawyer previously worked for Anthony Mitchell and now runs her own Executive Coaching business. Tracy was keen to give something back to young people in the local community who were just embarking upon their own life journeys. The Uprising Leadership Programme seemed to offer a perfect opportunity to enable her to do that.
Through their mentoring relationship, Emily developed confidence in her choices and the direction she wanted to take her law degree. Tracy supported Emily gain her first graduate level role and continues to offer sporadic support and advice to Emily.
